The Quilt

A mountain of fabric—diverse in size, shape, color, texture, and print—rests in what seems, at first glance, like a scattered and disconnected heap. To the untrained eye, it is simply cloth. But to the quilter, it is something far more: a palette for imagination, a field of possibility where disparate pieces are brought into harmony through vision and care.

Within this process, diversity finds order, and variation becomes unity. Each choice reflects the hand and spirit of the maker, weaving together not only fabric, but time, memory, and intention.

A quilt is both art and utility. It offers warmth—the quiet embrace of its creator during a loved one’s sleep—and a sense of comfort and security. At the same time, it preserves history, carries stories, and connects generations.

The Quilter

In this way, the quilter transforms simple materials into something enduring. A quilt becomes more than fabric—it is art, it is story, it is an expression of heart, the fabric of soul.

On May 2, at Oldenburg House in Carlton, as part of the Art Roundabout 2026, the Wood City Quilter Guild and June Lind - a ninety-three-year-old quilter and community treasure, will presnt an exhibition entitled "Quilters of Fabric, Quilters of Community."

Quilters will be onsite to share their stories and quilts on display throughout the house. Share your stories of quilts and quilters that have been a part of your life. We will collect them to honor the art, the tradition and the deep meaning carried within each quilt and publish them online.

And so we honor one of our own, June Lind.

Open from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM.
