Art Roundabout 2026
Welcome
Though the Art Roundabout offers increased community exposure to your creative work, at its core, it is about something deeper. It is about the passion and discipline - the heart and soul you put into your creative work. Your participation - your open hearted invitation to share time, personal workspace, and your creative process provides a unique opportunity for our community to be introduced to the richness of your work and presence. In so doing, you strengthen our community. For that, we are extremely grateful. Thank you!
Your participation in Art Roundabout 2026 on the oacc.us platform helps ensure the long-term growth and sustainability of the project. It also makes future participation simple—allowing you to register for Art Roundabout 2027 and other projects with just a click. By streamlining organization, more time and resources can be focused on promotion and marketing. As we continue to build this event together, it becomes a shared creative tradition—one the community looks forward to each spring on the first Saturday of May.

under one sky branding discussion
Executive Brief
The session focused on a strategic pivot for the Oldenburg Arts and Cultural Community (OACC) branding. The core thesis is the adoption of "Under One Sky" as the "canopy" or "umbrella" brand, with existing programs (e.g., Art Roundabout, Bringing Joy, Honey Bee Festival) functioning as "constellations" underneath it. This structure aims to resolve naming inconsistencies and align with regional initiatives like "Starry Skies Lake Superior."
Strategic Branding & Identity
- The Canopy Brand: "Under One Sky" is confirmed as the primary tagline/brand for OACC. It serves as the unifying mission statement that partners effectively with all sub-programs.
- The Constellation Model: Programs are no longer viewed as disparate entities but as a constellation of sub-brands. This includes Art Roundabout, Cooking at the O, Document Spring, and Letters to the Future.
- Cultural Sensitivity: There was a brief exploration of translating "Under One Sky" into Ojibwe (Minogatun). However, due to linguistic complexity and potential religious significance, the decision is to retain the English phrasing while remaining open to community input.
- Governance: The team is transitioning to a "staff proposes, board disposes" model. No visual icons or billboards will be finalized until the board provides direction during the April 14th meeting.
Programmatic Integration: "We Love It Here"
- The ARAC Mandate: OACC is contractually obligated to the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council (ARAC) to execute the "Why We Love It Here" project, which requires documentation and exhibitions across seven venues.
- Venn Diagram Logic: "We Love It Here" is the documentary arm of the organization. It overlaps with all other programs by capturing the "why" through photography (Molly Johnson) and community narratives.
- Art Roundabout Execution: Venue hosts will be encouraged to document "happy moments" (e.g., visitors with pottery, bakery samples) to feed into this overarching documentary project.
Operational Logistics & Next Steps
- April 8th Deadline: A clear, written framework of this branding and programmatic structure must be ready for the Community Visioning Workshop.
- April 14th Board Meeting: This meeting will be the primary forum for engaging stakeholders in the branding conversation. Coordination with Paul and Susie is required to finalize the attendee list.
- Capacity Management: Due to recovery and the intensity of upcoming projects, B&B operations are to be suspended or strictly limited through early August to prioritize OACC's organizational rebuilding.
Nuance & Friction
- Naming Fatigue: There is a clear distaste for the "OACC" acronym and the "Oldenburg Arts and Cultural Community" name, which was described as "pretentious." However, the URL OACC.US is viewed as a valuable asset to maintain.
- Communication Gaps: A previous email regarding "Under One Sky" was flagged for conflating the organization with the fall festival; this needs immediate correction in future correspondence.
