Carlton SWCD held their first ever Native Plant Kit Sale! We ended up achieving the largest record of plant kits sold by MN Native Landscapes with a grand total of 196 orders! The best part about this is that the 134 landowners that purchased kits are doing voluntary conservation.
People came from as far away as Pine City, Two Harbors, and Superior, WI to pick up kits. We even had a landowner call from North Carolina asking if we could deliver kits to him. Some highlights of orders:
- Fond du Lac purchased 15 kits for their residents
- Pine Knot purchased kits for their building
- Moose Lake School district purchased kits to plant on school grounds
- Several CSA Farms purchased to plant kits around fields
- Jay Cooke State Park DNR (Lisa Angelos) purchased kits to be planted in visual places (will be scheduling additional site visit to do more pollinator work in Jay Cooke State Park)
- A landowner purchased all kits as her 50th birthday present
We had so many great partners in advertising this sale:
- Pine Knot
- Oldenburg Arts and Cultural Community
- Xerces Society
- U of MN Extension
- Duluth Collaborative Invasive Species Management Area
- MN DNR
- MN Department of Agriculture
- NE MN Bee Keepers Association
- Local community flyers
- U of MN Master Gardeners
- Wild Ones
- City of Superior
- South St. Louis SWCD
- Pine SWCD
- I know I am missing a few…
